What it is
Upper-arm contouring can be done two ways. Arm liposuction (often with VASER) removes excess fat when skin quality is good. An arm lift (brachioplasty) removes loose, excess skin — common after weight loss. The right choice depends on how much is fat versus loose skin, which Dr. Satey assesses.
Is this for you?
Arm contouring may be a fit if you:
- Have excess fat in the upper arms (liposuction) or loose, hanging skin (arm lift)
- Are at a stable weight with realistic goals
- Are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to stop)
Why Dr. Satey
- Board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with advanced fellowship training in cosmetic surgery.
- 2026 President of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery — the youngest surgeon to reach this statewide role.
- A national instructor who trains other surgeons in VASER liposuction and Renuvion techniques.
- An approach focused on natural-looking proportion: “Every patient has a natural silhouette that can be revealed, not created.”
What to expect
- Consultation. Dr. Satey assesses fat versus loose skin to recommend liposuction, an arm lift, or a combination.
- Procedure. Liposuction uses very small incisions; an arm lift removes excess skin. Both are done under a tailored anesthesia plan.
- Recovery. Compression and a gradual return to activity over a few weeks are typical; your exact timeline is reviewed beforehand.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need liposuction or an arm lift?
- If skin quality is good and the issue is fat, liposuction may be enough. If there is significant loose skin, an arm lift addresses it. Dr. Satey determines the right approach at your consultation.
- Will there be a scar?
- An arm lift involves an incision to remove skin, so there is a scar, placed as discreetly as the technique allows. Liposuction-only uses very small incisions. This is reviewed with you.
- How much does it cost?
- Cost depends on your goals, the technique used, and what’s involved in your individual plan, so pricing is reviewed during your consultation. Financing options are available.
- Is it safe? Who performs the procedure?
- Every procedure is performed by Dr. Sean Satey, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon who is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Your candidacy, anesthesia, and risks are reviewed in detail at your consultation.
